Finish it Friday may be the best idea I've had in a very long time. Before I thought, "I can't afford to take a day off to finish things. I need to be painting." And now I know, "I can't afford not to." Things aren't getting finished and my year is running out.
Last night I hosted another drink and draw. Meeting up with this group has been really valuable to me. It's not about what we draw or even what we drink. ;) It's about our conversations--book and podcast recommendations, talking through the stuff that sucks, celebrating the stuff that doesn't, and bouncing ideas off each other. It's already been a huge benefit to me. And the other great thing about hosting it, I clean my studio table for it.
So today started with a clean table. I laid out all (most!) of my unfinished projects and made my to do list. It was strange but I was really excited to get it all done. I haven't been this motivated in awhile. This was the list:
sand off failed painting wire + seal Fudge wire + seal Justice wire + seal Andy wire + seal Pear wire + seal + frame Landscape 1 (needs a title!) wire + seal + frame Landscape (needs a title!)
- wire + seal + frame Abstract (needs a title!)--still needs the frame
sort + file papers mail tax stuff to city package + mail Fudge seal wood slices eyelets + leather on wood slices
- carve + paint pinch pots (2 done, 3 to go!)
- put shelves up
I'm pretty happy with that. It's a great feeling to go into the weekend with a clean studio and several things checked off the list. Cheers!
