I'm a small space, simple living kind of girl. I live in a two-bedroom house with my husband, two kids, and two dogs. So of course, we share everything. We don't have our own rooms or even our own desks. For the most part, I like it. I believe life is simple when you live simply and small homes grow tight families. However lately I'm thinking having my own desk or workspace could be a game changer. You might remember back in January I set up a workspace for this project. I used it for awhile but found that spreading all my stuff out on the dining table and being in the middle of the family action works better for me. My husband has taken over the tiny workspace that I created but he hasn't found much success there either.
I dream about working in a space with lots of natural light and enough room to spread my supplies out and leave them there. I dream about being able to pick up where I left off the day before and to be able to pop in for a few minutes of work at a time.
On the other hand, I crave simplicity. Wouldn't adding additional workspaces to our already tiny space just over complicate things? Perhaps I don't need the clutter of supplies being left out overnight? So as usual, I'm looking for that perfect compromise. (oh, and not spending much money either!) Is your workspace working for you? Do you need a separate space for your creative habits? Or is it better to make creative habits as portable as possible so there's no excuse about getting them done?
