If you've been around here for awhile or you've read my about page then you know that before this project I spent a lot of time surfing the internet admiring others. I wouldn't say I was jealous really but I felt like everyone was doing something cool except me. I felt frustrated and disappointed. I knew in the back of my mind that I could make cool stuff and that I just wasn't. I knew that any reason for not doing it was just an excuse. Knowing all that just made me even more upset with myself.
Today I began the day like I have the past one hundred and forty. I worked in my sketchbook. I took a photo and posted it to Instagram. I sat down with my breakfast and the computer. I surfed a bit and ran across two posts that showed me just how much things have changed. The first is this post from Jane. I met Jane through this blog and she is one of my biggest supporters. She jumped right into her own year of creative habits project and today she's celebrating the completion of her 100th doll. I'm so proud and happy for you!
The second is this post at Design Taxi. My first feature! The purpose of the project was to develop creative habits, to make, to contribute. etc. But you know what? It also feels really nice to get noticed! It feels a bit like I've come full circle to have my work on a page full of creative people and projects. It's not even noon here yet and it's been a pretty great day already.
