Each month I sit down and look back. I think about what's working and what's not. I think about what I'm enjoying and who I find inspiring. Today marks not only the beginning of a new month, but also the halfway point for the year. First, I spent some time going through my notebook. I'm using the bullet journal system this year. In that system, at the beginning of each month, you look through the previous month's pages and bring forward any task/ideas that you'll need for the new month. I hadn't done this in quite awhile so this morning, I looked back through the last several months. Now I have a good list of ideas and tasks to jumpstart July. Then I went though my workspace. I sorted through supplies and old drawings/paintings. I made a list of supplies that I need to buy. I chose a few pieces from last month that I'll hang up to give me direction for the month ahead. It feels good to start this way. The last thing to do is to write it all out. I think I'll save those words for my notebook this time but it definitely helps to put my thoughts down on paper. Later on, when I sit down to work and feel stuck, I'll be happy I did.
