Spoonflower has a 30-day drawing challenge going right now. I'm not participating every day but instead every so often. They email you a prompt usually just on the weekdays. Included with the prompt has been some great resources and their blog has extras like these animal inspiration photos and artist interviews like this one. Since I'm not participating each day I thought it might be fun to combine some of the prompts. It has worked really well as a baby step toward telling stories with my drawings.
So this is prompt #15 fish with prompt #1 cactus. I think he looks a little surprised with his surroundings. And then there's prompt #12 hedgehog with prompt #7 book. He turned out looking meaner than I intended but now I like to think of him as plotting to dominate the world.
Many of their prompts naturally go together like cat/fish and tea/toast/lemon. I've had fun making some unlikely combinations. There's still time to get involved with the spoon flower drawing challenge, you see past prompts here and sign up for the remaining ones here.
