I often show the behind-the-scenes of drawings and paintings. I share what I'm reading, both books and articles. I share things that are inspiring me and where my ideas come from. Right now I'm working on a book, website changes, and my plan for 2015 but I haven't shared much of the processes of these projects. I have no idea what I'm doing with any of it (I guess I should be used to that feeling by now) and I'd say that's why I haven't been sharing. Welp, I'm taking a deep breath and changing that today. First the book, I'm slowly getting started. I had one really good day (an hour or so really) of writing recently, a few decent days, and several days that I didn't write at all. I've handed over a couple sections to my writing coach/editor (aka my husband). It's like passing your newborn baby off to someone else to hold for the very first time. I got nervous and scared and I really just wanted my baby back. He gave me feedback on what's working and what's not but probably the best thing he said was that he learned something about me by reading it. We've been married 11 years so that was a bit of a surprise. Anyway it's hard and it's slow and I'm finding it difficult to build (book) writing into habit.
I'm planning some (major?) website changes both here and at crystalmoody.com. This week I began by dropping my blog over there and posting here instead. By the end of the year, I'd like to have the two sites tied together, meaning they look similar and are linked up in ways that make the transition between them feel more seamless. I'm working on building a shop and revamping my portfolio. I'm working in Squarespace over there and Wordpress here. I know just enough to get myself into a lot of trouble in both places. :)
I'm also building my plan for a year of creative habits 2015. I ended up not changing my creative habit month to month this year like I originally planned. So now, I'm very ready to make some changes at the end of the year. I'm excited about giving it all a new look and taking this project to another level. The big goals that I made last week are helping guide me in a few decisions but there's lots to prepare.
This week has been slow with very little to show for my work. I love projects where I can quickly see progress. These are not those kind of projects. :( I know that I need to break these down into smaller bits. I need to get some small wins under belt. I've got to build some momentum. I know I have to embrace the uncertainty, focus on today, and trust that it'll all come together in the end.
