This month on Instagram, I've been participating in Joanne Hawker's #MarchMeettheMaker challenge. It's been really fun to share some different kinds of photos. The prompts have been really helpful too. I don't always know what kinds of things to post and these were good ways to help me tell more of my story. Here's a few favorites from the first half of the month:
day 4 "tools" and day 5 "can't live without"
today's prompt for #marchmeetthemaker is tools: I use moleskine sketchbooks (pocket size has art plus paper, larger paperback one has a smooth drawing paper), short pencils (8b, 4b, and a blue prismacolor), pigma graphic 1 pen, pink and kneaded erasers, collage papers, and a small metal ruler to tear paper in straight lines. Not pictured: a scotch adhesive roller for a quick sketchbook adhesive and matte medium for a permanent one.) #yearofcreativehabits
Today's #marchmeetthemaker is "can't live without" and for me it's coffee! ☕️ I like coffee (a lot) but the reason I say coffee goes beyond the usual. When I started #yearofcreativehabits in 2014, I did my daily drawing first thing in the morning. Coffee became my reward for finishing it each day. It also became my punishment, no drawing = no coffee. I was able to build a creative habit around my coffee habit. It's been over two years now and I'm on my 10th sketchbook.... 👊🏻😁
day 8 "where" and day 9 "goals"
#marchmeetthemaker prompt today is goals! Woowee I have a bunch. In my personal work, I have a goal to paint larger and create a series of at least 6 this year. I have several goals for the @yearofcreativehabits community which includes a new website and a mini course that is related to this drawing right here. 😉 #yearofcreativehabits
day 10 "favorite small business" and day 11 "post (office) run"
#marchmeetthemaker favorite small business...without a doubt it's @cultureflock ... this is just a handful of my cf collection. They are the kindest, coolest, most talented and I'm so happy to call them friends. If you are new to #cultureflock I'd recommend starting with the baseball tee (upper left) in whatever design you fancy. It's the softest, best fitting tee I own.
"post run" for #marchmeetthemaker today... packaging is something I've been working on lately... recently @elisejoy posted about surprising and delighting your audience and that's something I'm working on with my packages. One of the challenges is keep it familiar (on brand) but also new and exciting, especially for repeat customers. #yearofcreativehabits
day 12 "first sale" and day 15 "inspiration"
