I mentioned to subscribers yesterday that I'm beginning other creative habits besides the drawings that I've been posting. One is to keep a daily notebook/sketchbook. I've had a planner since the days of spending a small fortune on a leather Franklin Covey. Over time, my system has evolved. I've had planners, logbooks, idea books, sketchbooks, etc. My problem has always been that I have my thoughts/ideas in too many places, making them difficult to find and refer back to. Recently I saw the video for the Bullet Journal. This appealed to me because it seemed like a good way to combine my planner, log book, and ideas into one AND still be able find everything.
I'm giving it a go and liking the system so far. The white Moleskine above is my Bullet Journal. I'm keeping a separate sketchbook for little drawings because I like to draw on heavier paper. Both notebooks are pocket Moleskines so they stack easily and are small enough to throw in my bag.
On the left are sketches of my favorite Christmas gifts, somewhat inspired by Kate Bingaman Burt's daily purchase drawings. On the right are notes made while reading about the artist Jean-Michel Basquiat--some of his favorite symbols, idols, and inspirations. I LOVE peeks into people's notebooks and sketchbooks so it's only fair to share a peek into my own, right?
