It's been a whirlwind couple of days. Yesterday I turned 40 years old. More about that later, maybe. ;) Today I traveled to Salt Lake City for Alt Summit. This is my second time attending but I'm just as nervous as last time! Hopefully I meet some nice people and learn lots of good stuff.
I feel a little like I'm on autopilot right now with my creative habits. I read about an artist for 10-20 minutes and then draw for 10-20 minutes. It's been all pencil sketches lately. I find that strange as I usually prefer pen but I'm going with what feels right at the moment.
Pictured above is a painting by de Goya that I found myself coming back to again and again. I especially love the unfinished quality. And then a drawing of a young Picasso. He was quite handsome, no? I also read quite a bit about his dog but Lump hasn't made it into my sketchbook yet.
Then yesterday's drawing is of Winslow Homer. I found it interesting that he was into the stock market and used the swings to try to sell paintings.
Today's drawing is from the airport floor. I added Paul Cezanne and Edgar Allan Poe to the page. They both have January 19 birthdays along with Dolly Parton, Janis Joplin, and me!
I'm off to my first session here at Alt. If you are here too, please say hi!
