One of my goals this year is to take more photos, not just of the kids. It's twelve days into the new year and this is the first post in my 'weekly' series. So I'm already a little behind, progress > perfection, right?!
Like last year, I'm participating in Practising Simplicity's 52 portrait project by taking a portrait of my kids, once a week, every week. I'll be shooting for 50 portraits as my mantra this year is progress > perfection.
I like what Jodi had to say in her most recent post:
"We can get so caught up in the busyness of life and the perfection of the portrait that often, these two things only become hindrances. Treat Sunday as your deadline and, even if you aren't entirely happy with the photo you have captured (sometimes life only gives us time for five shots in a week), post it anyway. I promise that in retrospect, you will value that photo just as much as the next. "
That's so true. The other thing I've noticed is that I'll often think I don't have any good photos but once I sit down and pull the post together, I end up pleased with the results. So here's to setting a deadline for myself and keeping it.
P.S. I'm also looking forward to this series by simple as that: one year to more organized photos. My computer and photos folders are a mess. I SO need that!
