This month's #LetteringPortfolio assignment is package design and this week's assignment is canned goods. I got the idea for this one pretty quickly. I've been rereading The Artist's Way and had highlighted this:
"All too often, it is audacity not talent that moves an artist to center stage."
A friend and I were talking about that and so the word AUDACITY has been on my mind. We don't eat very many canned goods so there wasn't a particular can that wanted to redesign. Instead I kept thinking of a can of whoop@ss. As an introverted artist I need a can of audacity a whole lot more than a can of whoop@ss! Over the last couple years I've become a big fan of Andy Warhol and so those three ideas came together pretty easily.
Once I had the idea, I just imitated the lettering on Andy's Campbell's soup cans. Usually I'm all about the process but not so much for this one. The idea was the most interesting part and the process became execution of the idea. This was a quick one that I think made for a fun pattern.
