Below is the state of the studio (aka the dining table) today. I'm full speed ahead on that whole 'finish' idea. Lately it feels like half my time is spent watching paint dry. See that all yellow bird above. Poor guy didn't get any other color or pattern because he wouldn't dry. Poor naked birdie.
On another note, I remember one of my painting teachers telling me to stand back from my work and squint. The idea was to get a general idea of composition and a feel for the contrast in the painting. I'm discovering that taking a photo can help in the same way. It allows you to really step away and think. I'm thinking I'm going to sneak a few creatures into the black area and then I'm calling this one done.
