Lately I'm taking time to think about what I do, how I do it, why I do it, if I like it, and what I really want. Those are some powerful questions to think about it and yet I don't do it often enough. I think there's times when going through the motions is good. Sometimes it's ok to do something out of habit and without thought. I prefer my morning drawing to be done that way. Other times I need to go deeper into my thoughts and processes to really analyze them. It seems to help me focus and find direction. Lately I've been thinking a lot about 'story.' What's my story? What story am I telling with my work? It's a lot to think about and it won't get all settled today. And that's ok. Maybe you're already pretty clear about your why's and your story. If so, I'd love to hear about it. If you aren't, maybe you'll join me in slowing down to think about it today.
