There's the fastest way to do something and then there's the way I do it. I don't know why I have to make things more complicated than they need to be, I just do.
Lately I've been cleaning out my studio. I've been a real funk for the past few weeks and I started to feel just really weighed down. I had this sudden need to get rid of stuff and paint anything left white. I need a fresh start. I need to make room, both mentally and physically, for new work.
I ended up with these stacks of painting from last year. Some I don't care for and I'll paint over them. A few seem to fit in with where I want to go this year so I'll hang out to those. The rest I can't bear to paint over but I'm ready to part with them. Those I hope to sell here in my online shop.
However the idea of listing each one seemed overwhelming (and boring.) I put it off and put it off. Then today I remembered "bird by bird." I just need to take it one painting at a time. It's still boring though so I looked for a way to make it interesting, to turn it into a learning experience.
I'm going to rephotograph each one. That'll force me to come up with some new ways to photograph my work. Then I'm going to take the time to write a description and/or really tell the story of each one. I'm going to turn this into an enjoyable, worthwhile thing. I mean that's the point right?
I'll add each one to the shop and they will all be priced to sell fast.
