In February I read three books which makes my total seven for the year. I'm a little behind compared to the past two years when I read 50 books each year but I feel like I'm enjoying reading more this way. Stitches and This is Water are both LITTLE books, very fast reads. They are also a really handy size for taking on a flight so keep those two in mind.
My favorite lines from Stitches: A Handbook on Meaning, Hope, and Repair were "Beauty is meaning." and “Beauty is a miracle of things going together imperfectly.” That pretty well describes how I like my art. :)
I saw the book This is Water on Instagram and it was highly recommended. I found it interesting and certainly worth reading but not a keeper for me. Fates and Furies is the first novel I've read this year which seems crazy to me. I was up and down with it, loving it at times and lukewarm about it at other times. It's definitely different than what I usually read and I liked her writing style.
I didn't READ these books but they laid around my studio for awhile and I drew inspiration from them. The 50 States book is one I'd purchase. The design and illustration of it is really great AND I learned stuff about all the states, even the state I have lived in for 40 years!
I have quite a stack of books from the library currently and have been adding books to my amazon wishlist. I find that's the easiest way to keep track of the books I want to read, even easier than goodreads for me. What's the best book you've read lately? What should I add to the list?
