It does seem that I read a little less in the summer. That's ok. I read 4 books this month for a total of 38 books in 2018 so far.
First up I read Call Me By Your Name. I kinda had mixed feelings about this one. It felt like a sort of classical kind of book but very young adult/juvenile. I had some trouble getting into it at first but I really liked the second half of the book and the ending. I haven’t seen the movie yet and I hear I should.
Then I read this graphic novel about Vincent van Gogh. I have mixed feelings about this one too. I was into it very quickly but it seems to portray Vincent as such a volatile personality. And maybe he was, I just prefer to dwell on the good that he brought into the world.
I picked up I Am I Am I Am at my neighborhood little free library. I thought it was really good. It makes you think about your own brushes with death and how one little twist can change everything for better or worse.
And then I read the digital version of this graphic memoir, Tomboy. I read this on my iPad while camping and while that doesn't seem very outdoorsy, it actually worked out really well because I didn't need a flashlight to read. I really enjoyed it and totally related to this one.
So 38 books for the year. I'm averaging 5 or more per month. I'm on track to read 60 books this year. :)
