Probably this quiche has been the highlight of the last few weeks (thanksgiving excluded of course.) I picked up the cookbook, Minimalist Kitchen, off the ‘new books’ shelf at the library (and through it discovered the Faux Martha). We decided to start with this quiche recipe. The last several Sunday’s we’d been having Prairie Pie’s quiche for brunch at our fave place, Cherry Picker. It was divine… but then winter arrived and they quit having brunch (because most of the seating is outdoors.) And so we NEEDED to learn to make quiche.
Mission accomplished. I can see this being our weekend thing now. I just bought a tart pan and pie weights so next time I’m taking it to the next level!
Eli was sick for a few days and of course Thad was out of town for the worst of it. I have to remind myself that I’m good at lots of things because when the kids are sick, I’m a hot mess. But I handled it and we all survived. (Barely.)
He missed two days of school which is unheard of for him. This kid refused a trip to Florida because he didn’t want to miss any classes. On his first day mostly feeling better he was back at soccer. There were no subs so he played the entire game. :|
We are plant sitting for awhile and now our breakfast nook is kind of a jungle. We like it! I just wish the temperature was also jungle-like! It gets pretty cold around the windows in our 100 year old house. The Christmas cactus is just about to bloom.
A few shots from one of Thanksgiving feasts. I missed getting photos at the other. Nonny brought plenty of wine and sparkling juice for the kids. They had fun drinking from these ‘fancy glasses.’
Hansel was my seat mate for most of the day. He’s a funny guy. He refused to let anyone use that chair! :)
