I read 4 books in April for a total of 25 books this year. I’m still in that slump where none of the books I have reserved at the library have come in. Murphy’s Law says they will all come in at once and then I’ll have TOO many books to read (as if there’s such a thing as too many books, right?)
I read Keep Going, Austin Kleon’s new book. I love all this books, Steal Like an Artist and Show Your Work too. I also love that they are all the exact same size and design so that they make a nice set. These books are keepers that I refer back to again and again.
I read Power by Naomi Alderman. This was a book that I bought for the cover and the tag line: A fierce new power has emerged—and only women have it. It’s sci-fi and so NOT what I usually read but it was interesting and I enjoyed it.
I pulled What the Most Successful People Do Before Breakfast off our shelf of misfit books at home. It’s actually 3 mini books in one. My favorite of the three was What Successful People Do On the Weekends. It was a good read for me right now just to remind me that we all get the same amount of hours in a week and to really think about how I want to spend them.
Understanding Comics was also on our shelf of unread books. I was too intimidated to begin before. It seems silly that a comic book about comics could be intimidating but it is! It’s like a textbook... it’s the history of comics and how to define comics and what makes comics comics? It’s a lot of information and is just an incredible feat of a book.
All my library books are starting to come in now so we’ll see what May has in store!
