I read 6 books in March for a total of 21 books so far this year. I don’t usually buy many books. I get them from the library or borrow from a friend (sometimes I find a gem in my neighborhood’s Little Free Libraries.) But this month, none of the books I reserved at my library came in! I think I currently have ten books on hold and I am least 3 people back on all of them. (I’m sure they will all come in at the same time and I’ll be overwhelmed with books!) So instead I borrowed and I bought books this month. Luckily I had a Barnes & Noble gift card. :)
One I bought, mostly for the beautiful cover, was The Immortalists. I really liked the premise of this book which is... if you knew your death date, would it change how you live? This books was good (not great) but easy to get wrapped up in.
The boys in my house have been bugging me about reading Ready Player One so I borrowed this from them. I did like all the 80’s references but I got a little bored with some of the technology descriptions. I just wanted to get back to the story. I still haven’t seen the movie yet but I’m looking forward to it.
A friend loaned me this one and I devoured it. So good. I still think about it, especially the idea of taking up space and how we (women?) often go out of our way to not take up space or inconvenience anyone.
I stumbled across this one at the library and found it really interesting. It’s illustrated in this really great graphic style that I enjoyed.
Then when I got really desperate this month, I read a digital book. (gasp!) I’ve actually read the whole Paper Girls series digitally. (In general I only read on my iPad when I’m traveling or camping and it’s always graphic novels.) The colors in Paper Girls are amazing and maybe even more amazing when backlit. But I thought the story wasn’t as good this volume and maybe I’m done with this series? :(
My other purchase this month was this! I have the first book and was surprised to see this one at Barnes and Noble. I really thought this one was better. It’s such a great mix of people.... so many women I want to learn more about. I kind of wish I had read it slower and taken the time to look into the people I want to know more about so I may reread it or just come back to it time and again.
Currently I’m read The Power by Naomi Alderman. I totally bought it for the cover. :) It’s different for me, a bit more science fiction, but I’m enjoying it so far.
