Improve my compositions. (I'm going to count this one as complete.) I did not work every single day on this. I did focus on composition much more often in August (including this post about it) and I'm feeling more confident with it.
Finish my study of artists Mary Blair and Romare Bearden. Begin study of a new artist. (in progress) I finished my study of Romare Bearden but I haven't pulled together my research of Mary Blair yet.
Have 9 pieces finished and framed for a show in September. (in progress) Four pieces are finished and framed. Two more are really close. Maybe a few more will get done before the deadline.
Walk, hike, or run every day this month. (Nope) This one is difficult to measure exactly as I have only been keeping track of my morning walks. We often go on an evening walk together as a family but I know I did not make it every single day of August.
Also in August a few other things popped up...
James Clear had a great post last week called Measure Backward, Not Forward. That's often how I begin with my goal setting each month. I look back at the past month and list out my accomplishments. Try it. I think you'll be surprised at how much you accomplished when you put all the little things together into a big list. Then I set new goals based off that list. I also add in one or two new things. Those little ideas that keep coming up deserve to go on the goals list too. I usually set too many goals and make them slightly bigger than I think I can accomplish. My end goal isn't to accomplish every single thing on the list. It's to push myself to do as much as I can. I'm going to take some more time to think about where I'm headed and I'll be back tomorrow with my goals for September.
