The last couple days have been rainy and cold, perfect days days for curling up with a book and some hot chocolate. I had a couple non-fiction books here that really relate to my project but I didn't feel like reading those. I've been in the mood for fiction. Quite awhile back, my friend Sonja recommended the book Me Before You. I glanced at it and it just didn't speak to me at first. Then with the cold and the rain and a fleece blanket on the couch, it started to look more appealing.
It took a little while to get into...I'll admit I doubted you at first Sonja! About a third of the way through, the book revealed that it's not just a romance. There's a couple big topics in there to think about it, one that is especially relevant given the recent news of Brittany Maynard. So there, that's all I'll say so that I don't give away too much.
This year I've made the promise to only buy books that I love and that think I'll read over and over. So far I've only bought two books, Show Your Work and Art Inc. The rest of the books I've borrowed from the library. Someone will recommend a book and I'll reserve it at my local library. Right now I'm on the waiting list for ten books. What generally happens to me is that I'm waiting on books and have nothing to read or several books come in all at once. That's where I'm at right now....
I have these five books right now along with the pressure to get them all read before their due date! I've heard lots of good things about Creativity, Inc. and plan to read that next, assuming there isn't more cold, rainy days where I'd rather curl up with a good story.
