I had a mini panic attack this morning when I noticed that the Hip Handmade Market is in 2.5 weeks. That seems like plenty of time, except that we are moving in 1.5 weeks. AAAAHHH!
Then I had an "aha" moment. (You ever notice "aha" moments are a lot like "duh!" moments!) Maybe this was a "duh!" moment, but it occurred to me that there's a whole lot of tasks that need to be done for the upcoming show and some are even sorta creative. Right now, my painting and drawing tasks aren't going so great so why not work on those? I'm thinking it's win/win. I'll get some of those done and I'll probably get so sick of them that I'll feel like drawing and painting again.
I updated my business cards and ordered 100 more. I find that I go through about 50 per day at events.
I ordered some new stickers. I usually put stickers on packages that I mail and on bags in person. I also give them away at events. I ordered 52 this time.
After I made the sticker design I thought it'd look good as a stamp and so I ordered one of those self inking ones. I don't have any definite plans for it yet but I feel like it will come in handy for lots of things.
I also ordered a new sign for my booth. (Handsome dude not included.) I'm pretty excited about it because I remembered to put my contact info on there so people can just take a picture of it if they want to have it on their phone.
I also ordered more paper bags and a table cloth that hopefully will actually fit my table and I can stop using a wrinkled bed sheet. Did I mention that I'm a professional? ;)
I sketched out the layout of my booth and I have my plan pretty well set. After looking through my numbers from last years' events, I decided to go with the smallest/cheapest booth available. I have a 6'x8' space but I scored a corner so I think it'll be great! Now I just have to focus on inventory.
Oh, AND I made a trip to Michael's today and got stocked up on things like gesso, paper, and brushes. You know, it would have been a lot cheaper if I'd just drawn in my sketchbook today. ;)
