No matter how much you enjoy your creative habits, sometimes things get old. You've got to mix it up; find ways to keep it fresh. One way to do that is to learn something new. Take a class or join a group. Yesterday one of my favorite artists Lisa Congdon announced her new line drawing class at Creativebug. I jumped at the opportunity. I was so excited, I showed it to my 8-year-old son. He loves watching how-to videos on You-Tube and decided he might want to do it too. I am super-pumped now, thinking about learning from the fabulous Lisa Congdon while sharing my love for sketching with my son. As artists, we tend to isolate ourselves, which suits me fine most of the time. But if things are growing stale, then it's time to join forces. Learn from someone. Teach someone. Work beside someone. Collaborate on a project. Make connections that will spark new ideas and new direction in your own work.
