I wrote about resting without stopping in my last newsletter. Also last week I wrote a bit about burnout and how I was taking a break and working in my sketchbook for awhile. I'm not feeling rested so much as refueled!
I've had a few ideas and made a few decisions about the remaining six months of this project. I love that I make the rules and I get to change them if/whenever I want. :) I rarely change the rules though. If it ain't broke, don't fix it I guess but today I have a minor change.
It's funny but I just realized that I actually made this first a long time ago, I just forgot I did it. Here it is...my about page reads "In 2015, I am painting each day." Not a big change but painting each day includes painting in a sketchbook or painting on a larger piece that takes several days to complete. Instead of needing to 'finish' a painting each day, it allows me work on some larger or more detailed pieces. It gives me just a bit more wiggle room. [I'll have to be careful though. Sometimes I struggle to finish so if I find myself not finishing often, I'll have to go back to finishing each day at lunch time.]
I like the idea of mixing up some fast intuitive painting like today's with something a bit more planned out like my Fursday paintings often are. It'll be interesting figuring out how to balance the two of those during my usual busy day but that's one of the challenges of creative work.
