Last week I posted that I wanted to get more from my recent artist's date. The idea was to create a couple of paintings based on camping in our favorite spot. So this time I did a few things differently. When I got back from camping I went through my photos and notes. I made these color schemes and I sketched some of the creatures we met. When I sat down to work, I felt like I had a good plan. I imagined using the colors to create an abstracted landscape. I spent a few days painting over my beginnings and generally not liking where they were going. Yesterday I finally found my groove and it turned into this instead. I'm pretty happy with how the blue one turned out. The colors aren't exactly pulled from my color scheme but that was my starting point. Today I'm working on the green one which will feature some of the fish that we caught.
