It's been awhile since I've started off with a dog in the sun. That morning I also noticed the light hitting this abstract painting that I've been working on and it kind of made it's own little abstract composition.
I went a little overboard on coffee in the last week. The cooler weather probably helped. I just can't do iced coffee so it'll be this all summer for me.
We are still working on limiting screen time and surprisingly it's gone really well. It helps when you have a good book.
Clara and I were at the pool one day practicing her swim strokes and we noticed this red tailed hawk. We went outside the fence to get a better look and I can't believe how close we got!
Then on Thursday she had her swim lesson. I've been reading the book Peak: Secrets from the New Science of Expertise which is about deliberate practice. Every time he talks about good coaches, I picture Coach D at swim lessons. It amazes me what she can teach and get the kids to accomplish in just a half hour.
The kids finished up their summer camp classes. Eli took a math class, that's his golden rectangle. I love the colors he chose for it. And Clara took an art class. They made so much stuff in two weeks. The two shown here are the class mobile and her self portrait.
We spent most of the weekend just hanging out in the yard. The kids got out ball gloves which haven't seen the light of day in years.
We played board games on the table outdoors, ran barefoot through the yard, and caught lightning bugs. It has been a perfect summer already.
