I'm SLOWLY catching up on my reading. Both of these books were recommended by my friend Brittany and they were both great. A lot of people recommend books to me. I get almost every book that someone recommends from my library and at least "check it out." Sometimes we just have different tastes. Other times, it's just not the right book for me at the right time. I have a few friends though that when they recommend a book, I KNOW I'm going to like/love it. Brittany is one of those.
The Infinite Wait is a graphic novel by Julia Wertz. I had no idea what to expect. I'm not a huge fan of graphic novels but there are some that I really like, anything by Maira Kalman of course. The story was so good that I kinda forgot that there were pictures. Not that the pictures weren't good, they were. It is both funny and sad, my favorite kind of book. [I'm having a hard time ordering ranch dressing now though.]
I had seen Everything I Never Told You on the shelf at Target and was immediately drawn to the cover. That handwriting! Then Brittany told me that it was the best she'd read in quite awhile and loaned me the paperback. I LOVE reading paperbacks. They are just so comfortable. The story reminded me a little of The Lovely Bones but it's definitely all it's own--a really, really good read.
I'm STILL working my way through Rising Strong. Both my husband and Brittany recommended the audio version of Rising Strong and I tried it but I just can't. I don't know, I just can't do audio books. My mind wanders and then I realize that I haven't really been listening to it for half an hour. I tried having the audio book play while I was following along in the paper book but I found that I could read faster than the audio plays (even at 2X speed.) Oh well. I just keep at it and read some fiction books in the meantime. I'm headed to the library this afternoon to pick up my next batch of those. Less than 10 weeks left in 2015 and 12 books to read, I can do this!
