October is Inktober, a drawing challenge started by Jake Parker in 2009. Per his site, here's the rules:
1) Make a drawing in ink (you can do a pencil under-drawing if you want).
2) Post it online
3) Hashtag it with #inktober and #inktober2016
Note: you can do it daily, or go the half-marathon route and post every other day, or just do the 5K and post once a week. What ever you decide, just be consistent with it. INKtober is about growing and improving and forming positive habits, so the more you’re consistent the better.
I found comfort in the note..."whatever you decide, just be consistent." I knew I wanted to do Inktober and I'd started a list of ideas but I pretty quickly realized I didn't want (or need) another daily project. So I think I'll share weekly and I'll shoot for a drawing each weekday, hopefully finishing with 20+.
I've been studying Basquiat (again!) and reflecting on the work I've made this year. I realized that almost all the work I've made this year is about "life and death." I think that's probably where the idea for various skulls came from. Finally seeing that broad topic has given me lots of ideas for further work. We'll see where it takes me.
