I'm slowly making progress on my fifty reads this year. It's about six weeks in and I just finished my fourth book. But as I said yesterday I don't worry too much about reading one book a week. I've found that I read in spurts. Once I find a book I like, I'll read it in a couple days. Then I don't read anything for a week. That's just how it goes for me.
It's no fun trying to force myself to read something I'm not into. I fully believe that it's best to read the books that feel right for whatever season of life I'm currently in. Right now, that's fiction. Even better if it's in paperback. That's what I'm into right now so I might as well embrace it and go with it.
I ran across Lizzy & Jane on Elise's blog. I read a few pages of it and then put it aside. I guess it wasn't the right time. I picked it up again about a week or two later. This time, after reading another few pages, I was hooked. While I was doing other things, I kept thinking about the book and wishing I was reading it. It's one of the books that you can pretty well guess how it's going to end but I liked it so much I still wanted to read that ending anyway. If that makes sense... Oh and there's lots of food in the book. Maybe you've noticed but I'm a big fan of food.
The two above are currently on my nightstand. And here's some of the other books that are on my reading list:
- Eat Move Sleep by Tom Rath
- Living Color: Painting, Writing, and the Bones of Seeing by Natalie Goldberg
- The Big Leap: Conquer Your Hidden Fear & Take Life to the Next Level by Gay Hendricks
- #Girlboss by Sophia Amoruso
- Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty
- The Rosie Effect by Graeme Simsion
- Department of Speculation by Jenny Offill
