I'm staying with my goal to read 50 books this year. Number 13 was Fangirl. I liked everything about this book except the title. I identified with the main character and all her anxiety issues. It read a lot like a John Green book which I love. It just felt like there was much more to this book than her being a 'fangirl.' Ignore the title and read it anyway if you like YA novels and/or John Green. Number 14 was Beautiful Ruins recommended by my friend Dawn. I had trouble at the beginning of this one because it has so many characters and stories going. As soon as I started to like one, the chapter was over, and the author started in with another character. About halfway through the book I could finally see that the characters and stories would converge and I had to finish it to find out how. It was a totally different, yet interesting read for me.
I sent a load of books back to the library and am left with only these three bedside. I've read the first chapter of The Artisan Way and I'm looking forward to reading more. I picked up It's Kind of a Funny Story in our neighborhood free library. It's a YA novel set in a psych ward so that sounds totally interesting! And then last is S. by J.J. Abrams. It is fun to flip through with handwriting on the pages and postcards/news clippings/photographs stuck inside.
