Yesterday I participated in Ali Edwards' day in the life project. If you aren't familiar with her work or this project definitely check it out. I have been following Ali for about 10 years and I love her work and her message.
This was my day in the life:
My alarm went off at 6 and I don't remember hitting snooze and I didn't really wake up until about 6:35. Once I finally got up Thad was in the shower so I went downstairs to make the kids' lunches. I opened the blinds but it's still pretty dark out this time of year.
I went back upstairs to shower and dress. Eli woke up and came down for breakfast while I was getting ready. I went in to wake up Clara.
I got her breakfast and started the coffee. Then I started laundry.
The kids finished breakfast and went to get dressed. I settled in on the couch with my breakfast. I checked Instagram and the #yearofcreativehabits hashtag.
It was chilly this morning so coats along with shoes and backpacks and they were off to school.
I walk with them partway and then they walk the rest on their own.
Back at home, I started another load of laundry, a load of dishes, and watered the plants. I had a helper.
Then I sat down on the couch with my laptop and my other helper. I dealt with email, wrote a blog post, and updated a few things on my website.
At 10:00, I headed out to run errands. Thad bought me an apple watch over the weekend but it wouldn't charge. First stop was Simply Mac, our version of the apple store. The guy there quickly determined that the problem was the charging cord but getting a new one ordered took awhile.
After the Mac store, I stopped to get a few groceries.
It was about 11 by now and I was starving. I don't always eat so healthy.
Back at home, I finished up the second load of laundry and put groceries away.
After the snickers bar, I figured I better have a proper lunch. I took a mental break and watched The Good Wife while I ate. I love that show and am really gonna miss it. :(
I felt like I SHOULD draw in my sketchbook today but that wasn't what I really WANTED to work on so I didn't. I drew the geometric designs that I had planned on wood panels. The black one is the seed of life and the white one is metatron's cube.
Then I didn't really know how I wanted to proceed so I stopped for the day. I fed the dogs and took them outside. Thad came home from work early and we walked together to pick up the kids from school.
Eli had a bad day at school and there was a meltdown once we got home and so no pictures were taken for awhile.
It was Thad's 42nd birthday. Yesterday I made him a French silk pie, his very favorite. We sang to him and Clara insisted that he have a candle and basically we had pie for dinner. :|
Thad wanted to go fishing for his birthday. We drove to Taylor's bridge, about a 45 minute drive, a spot that he has fished since he was a kid. Fishing with kids is pretty much untangling their line, helping them cast, and trying to keep them quiet so they don't scare the fish.
Eli had a few nibbles but no one caught any. There was incident with Clara that involved a trip deep in the woods to potty and wet clothes for both of us. She was very frustrated about not catching a fish and very hungry from not having a proper dinner and she had a meltdown that carried on most of our trip back home.
Back at home, I got her some breakfast for dinner and the boys played a game of Magic before heading off to parkour class.
While they were gone, Clara sorted some artwork that's been piling up and then watched a show on her ipad.
After her shower, we played Farkle and she kept score for the first time, I did the adding and she did the writing. The boys came home and got something to eat and then we headed upstairs for the bedtime routine.
Full disclosure: I ate another piece of pie in bed after this photo. :)
