Last weekend we drove to Atlanta to see Jean Michele Basquiat at the High Museum of Art. Ten hours in the car there on Friday/Saturday and ten hours back on Monday. Maybe that was a bit crazy but it was totally worth it!
There was also an Eric Carle exhibit so we started there, thinking that would help get the kids into it. I think it got all of us into it. His work is much larger than I imagined. There was a display case with some of the materials he uses and some information about his process. I loved that almost as much as the work displayed.
Then we headed up to the second floor to see one of my very favorite artists ever! It was surreal.
The other big exhibit there right now is Vic Muniz. Incredible!
Then we just wandered around...
On the walk back to the hotel, I spotted this real plate and real silverware discarded near a parking lot. Kinda seemed like art to me. I guess that's what a few hours in a museum does to ya!
